About Commissioner Brooks Matthews

Brooks Matthews was elected to the Harnett County Board of Commissioners in 2020 to represent District 3 and served as Chairman during 2020-2021. He has a rich background in education, with over 40 years of experience in Harnett County's public education system, culminating in his role as Deputy Superintendent since 2014. Matthews is highly involved in his community, having served on multiple boards and committees, including the NC High School Athletic Association and Campbell University Alumni Association. A longtime resident of Buies Creek in Harnett County, he lives with his wife Rosa Maria, with whom he has three children and seven grandchildren.
